Getting Exam Ready!

Final fever is increasing day by day. Everybody is now super tensed and anxious about their upcoming exams. Next two months are going to be really hard for all of us. So, how do we deal with it? We all know it’s going to be tough but it is important to clear this and hop into next academic year.

So I came up with few tips as to how to go easy on these crucial days:
1)  Find a place: Look for the corner where you are comfortable to let your grey cells work on. It is important to find a place where you will actually enjoy, if not enjoy then at least concentrate on the work you have in your hand. You can turn your room into relaxed study place or move to your garden to study.

2)  Stock all your school supplies: We often keep running back to our room to get pen, stick notes etc.. take a moment and grab all that you need for your study sessions. don't waste your time on that.

3)  Set a target: Don’t go crazy over setting target. Don’t lay down super lengthy, not achievable target. Set a small and manageable target. Work on it candidly. This will give you joy at the end of the day.

4)  Make notes: As most of us had jolly time during classes at school and we kept pushing everything to last minute. Hence, we have to start right from the beginning and we are sure that we cannot look back at the whole thing again. So make notes, underline words, highlight important points, use sticky notes to remember certain important topics. Flashcards are the best way to remember all the important definition! Use different highlighters to mark different part to prioritize accordingly. Revise through your notes later.

5)  Take help: Jot down all the doubts you had during your study hours and call a trusted friend and take their help to solve them. It’s critical time you cannot push it any further! If you can arrange a group study, do it. It will be helpful for everyone in the group.

6)  Eat healthy: Consuming junk food can be really harmful at this point of time. Junk food doesn't contain the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. As a result, you may feel fatigued and lack the energy you need to study. The high level of sugar in junk food puts your metabolism under stress makes you drowsy at times (especially potatoes or dishes including potatoes). We don’t want to risk that! Go for healthy diet consisting of fruits and nuts, fresh juices and veggies.

7)  Stay hydrated:  Gulp down sufficient amount of water. No matter what it is necessary to keep your system hydrated to feel fresh and energized to study efficiently.

8)  Exercise: It has been proven that regular exercise can drive you away from stress. Try some yoga moves to feel relived. Meditate for few minutes a day for improving concentration. Try to work out for minimum half an hour a day.

9)  Sleep tight: Never ever sacrifice your sleeping hours for studies. Make sure you get maximum 7 hours of good sleep in a day. Sleeping relaxes your mind and body and makes it rejuvenated for achieving next day’s target.

10) Take breaks: Don’t jam up by studying for way too long. Regularly take small breaks of 10 minutes. Study for 90 minutes then go for a 10 minutes break. Use that break wisely and do something which makes you happy. Do take a happy break!

11) Be cautious of distractions: This is the core problem of every individual these days. The internet has webbed us so bad. We all often end up on social medias. Throw away (not literately! :p) all that distract you like your cell phone, laptop/computer, PSP, tab etc..everything!

12) Use some cool apps: We are the tech generation and we can help ourselves in studies by using some cool apps. Off time is very helpful in blocking all that distracts you along with providing analysis regarding your phone usage in a day. Another cool app is brain break which alert you as to when to take a break. Not only that, it tells you to go back to studies once you are done with your break.

13)Reward yourself: Once you are satisfied with your that day’s work, go ahead and treat yourself. Indulge in your world and pamper yourself!

I hope these tips will walk you through this exam period. Feel free to share any more tips down in the comment section to help out others. Lastly, GOOD LUCK to everyone. Study hard and shine out!

  1. These are really great tips Nikita and ones which I have done so myself when I was still a student. Another tip I'd like to add is to find out what kind of learner you are. Some people grasp ideas better listening (auditory learners), others reading (visual learners) while some by actually getting their hands on the task (kinesthetic learners). Many of us are even a combination of these. If you know how you are able to grasp your lessons best then you can devise techniques and tasks that will suit you. I got this tip from one of my professors in the university. Good luck on your exams!
