My Summer Internship

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication put forward students like me to grab internship opportunities. As a part of our curriculum I was supposed to do an internship after my forth semester with any media industry. After trying a lot and applying for good ones, I finally landed up an internship with “Lokmat Times”, a very famous English printed publication. It is issued daily and is circulated in Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad.

I was very keen on interning with a publication house because of my natural inclination towards writing. I was hoping that I would gain some valuable perspective about reporting and editing, and other aspects involved in print journalism. The internship span was of 30 days., and those 30 days were life changing and gave a whole new world to me that I never expected.

The first day of the internship was really exciting and scary for me at the same time. Till now I just read about journalism and newspapers and the fact that I will have to work for it now was really stressful.Luckily, I was able to hide my anxiety about the situation and made a good first impression on my co-workers.

I was assigned under Ankita Deshkar ma’am, my internship coordinator. She walked me through the process and gave me a heads up as to what I can come across over next 30 days. On first day they assigned me to write news articles from press notes/ releases. By the end of the day, I wrote 4 news articles and 2 of them actually got published in the next day’s issue.

Shreyash Holay, head of the city supplement, used to give me translation work. I was expected to translate Hindi and Marathi news pieces into English for the Lokmat Times. He also made sure I know how to use the QuarkXPress, the software that the whole office used to work on, how to design a page and what are the elements and components that needs to be given major attention to.

As the days passed by I was having fun at work and was learning a lot from all my co-workers. I came to know how print production actually works. The news collection process, editing and finally publishing it was a long and tedious process. The only thing that I couldn’t do as an intern for which I was looking forward to, was going to news conference and getting news first hand all by myself. They didn’t allow the interns to do that but rest of the office culture was lovely and interesting.
It ended sooner than I expected but the knowledge that I have received from that experience and the skills that I have brushed up was much needed. Engaging myself into an internship was a great and fruitful utilization of my summer break. It couldn’t have been better.

Getting Exam Ready!

Final fever is increasing day by day. Everybody is now super tensed and anxious about their upcoming exams. Next two months are going to be really hard for all of us. So, how do we deal with it? We all know it’s going to be tough but it is important to clear this and hop into next academic year.

So I came up with few tips as to how to go easy on these crucial days:
1)  Find a place: Look for the corner where you are comfortable to let your grey cells work on. It is important to find a place where you will actually enjoy, if not enjoy then at least concentrate on the work you have in your hand. You can turn your room into relaxed study place or move to your garden to study.

Being a newbie in this blogging community I wasn’t aware of the Liebster award. I am assuming there are many like me who don’t know about this. This is mainly a bloggers award which does not have any tangible existence. This is just an online award to encourage, hold up and help out the upcoming and new bloggers into this ever increasing blogging society. Its helps to develops connection and get a little recognition. I am very much pleased to be nominated for this amazing award by a lovely and talented blogger friend Mehar Singh from Miss Singh. Warm thanks to her for making me part of such a wonderful thing.

Bathroom: teen’s own little world.!!

As the title suggests and as the reality goes we all can agree with it. Let’s be real we all have been through this. Have we not? It’s our own little peaceful world where we teens take life changing and some so called important decisions. It’s not gross at all, no its not!!  We all have the tendency to put on our thinking caps when we are most relaxed and comfortable. And it’s not wrong to think in the bathroom. In my opinion when hot cascading water (if its winter!! :P) gushes down you, aromatic soaps and shampoo and somewhat peaceful ambiance for our grey cells, that makes a perfect combination for calm and composed thinking. Don’t they?

Apart from thinking out loud we do get all of a sudden talented and artistic. Those minutes dedicated to self is enjoyable and eye opener somehow. And no matter what, it all gives a sense of pleasure, since we all get our own time and we put our every effort to make the best of it. So here are some of the stuff we generally tend to do in BATHROOM:-

1.   Singers: This is the most common outcome in there. We all become Beyonce and Gaga and rap it like Eminem and Pitbull. We grab a shampoo bottle and create our own concert show and sometimes our own melodies!

How to stick with New Year’s resolutions???

HAHAHA..
Jeez...2015 finally rolled in!!! Is it just me or everybody feels that 2014 was real quick? 2014 may have proved lucky for some people and a little unlucky for others. Many have accomplished a lot or accomplished a little less and some may have lost in some way or the other. We all spent another year trying to know ourselves better and we must have come to conclusions that we do have some bad practice which needs to be altered. Don’t we? Some start the drill right away and some realized it too late and like to switch to good practices freshly in New Year AKA New Year’s resolutions!

Thanking People

We come across people who thank us for something that we did for them. How do you feel? Blissful!! Isn’t it? How often do you express your gratitude to someone? I am not asking you to thank every passerby, but how about the people we meet almost every day. Did you thank the shopkeeper from whom you bought an article? The man who filled up your tank at petrol pump? The watchman who helped you to move out your vehicle from parking lot?

KEEP FLOWING

It’s never too late to start living your dreams. You may think it’s too late to start, but no... As long as you live you can start right away.!! Just don't limit yourself..keep flowing..there are endless possibilities.!!

Sometimes you think its too late to start..but it’s never too late to start with something new...something real..something of your own..something raw...something which was never there before. Be late, take time to gather yourself and launch with great force..Its launching that matters being late doesn't.!!

Thought to start with something new but was taken aback by the worst consequences that may happen. Well.!!  Why not think of positive results. Think positive and let it happen. You never know what will happen until you try. You can fix things if it goes wrong.

Just make sure you launch. You are different and world needs to see you, recognize you. Don’t stop yourself thinking that something wrong might happen. Don’t jump to conclusions too early. Give it a try.!

So start today.!! Live your dream.!!!! Just KEEP FLOWING.!!!
